Finish the grid, streak goes up by one. Miss a day, it resets. Simple, and weirdly motivating once the number gets into double digits.
Nobody needs a streak counter. But there’s something about a 24-day flame that makes you open the app on a morning you’d otherwise skip.
Your streak lives on your device, no account needed. Finish all nine squares and it ticks up; the home screen shows your current run and your all-time best underneath it.
Milestones (a week, a month, 100 days) get a small celebration. That’s it. No punishments, no leagues, no pressure from strangers. It’s you versus your own best.
The one catch of local storage: if you delete the app or wipe its data, the streak goes with it. Pro’s cloud sync exists mostly for this, it’s a backup, not a requirement.
The grids don’t take long, five to ten minutes for most people, but some days even that feels like a lot. A few things that help:
Play at the same time. Morning coffee, commute, lunch break, anchor it to something you already do. People who play at random times miss days; people with a slot don’t.
Turn on the streak reminder. It’s one notification, only if you haven’t finished today’s grid yet. Genuinely useful, not spammy. Set the daily reminder for when new grids drop and the streak one for the evening.
Solve badly if you have to. A completed grid with hints and common answers still counts. There is no bonus for solving elegantly every day. On a hectic day, burn coins on hints, pick the obvious names, keep the chain, and chase rarity tomorrow.
If you’ll be offline, load the grid first. Once today’s grid is on your screen it plays without internet. Open it on Wi-Fi in the morning and it’s there on the plane later.
It will, eventually. A holiday, a dead phone, a day that just got away from you.
Two thoughts. First, your best streak stays on record, so the history isn’t gone. Second, the second streak is always easier, you know the journeymen now, you have the habits, and getting back to 30 takes less effort than getting there the first time.
The number is supposed to pull you back in, not guilt you. Start another one tomorrow.
Do I need to solve the grid perfectly to keep my streak? No. Filling all nine squares keeps the streak alive, even with hints and the most obvious answer on every square. Rarity is a separate, optional goal.
Can I keep a streak on both my phone and a browser? Not automatically. Streaks are stored per device without an account, so your phone and browser streaks run independently unless you’re on Pro, which syncs progress across devices.
What happens exactly if I miss a day? The streak resets to zero on the next grid you complete. Your all-time best streak is still saved separately, so a missed day doesn’t erase your record.
