How to Play Immaculate Grid Football

It’s a 3x3 board. Each row and each column carries a clue: a club, a league, a nationality, an era, or a position. Tap a square, name a player who fits both clues that cross there, and fill all nine. That’s the whole game. Here’s what it actually feels like in Kickgrid.

A round, start to finish

Say the left row says Juventus and the top column says France. You need someone who played for Juve and is French: Pogba, Thuram, Rabiot, Deschamps, any of them work.

Type the name, pick the right player from search, and submit. Correct answers lock in with a rarity number. Wrong ones cost you a life. Run out of lives and the run ends, though you can start over or spend coins to undo your last move.

Do that nine times and the grid is done.

The five clue types

Era and position squares trip people up the most. For era, think debut year, not peak year: a player who debuted in 2014 counts for a 2010 to 2015 square. For position, go with the player’s listed primary, not where he filled in for one emergency game.

Rarity: lower is better

Every correct answer shows a percentage: the share of other solvers who picked the same player. Pick Mbappé for PSG plus France and you’ll see something like 80%, correct, but everybody did it. Pick a rotation player like Layvin Kurzawa for the same square and that number drops hard.

There’s no prize for a low total beyond bragging rights, but chasing it is half the fun. Our full rarity score guide breaks down how to hunt for it on purpose.

Hints and coins

Stuck on a square? A hint gives you a shortlist of players who fit, for a few coins. You earn coins just by finishing grids: there’s a daily reward on the results screen, so most people never need to buy any.

Spend hints on the square that’s blocking you, not the one you could solve in another minute. The hint shortlist still makes you pick, so you learn the answer instead of just being handed it.

Three habits worth stealing

Start with the hardest square. Scan all nine before typing anything. The square with two obscure clues, say a mid-table club crossed with a nationality, is where your brain is freshest. Easy squares solve themselves at the end.

Think loans and short stints. The players who unlock hard squares are rarely starters. They’re the backup keeper who spent a year on loan, the veteran who passed through for one season. Alphonse Areola alone covers PSG, Real Madrid, West Ham, and Fulham. One journeyman in memory beats ten superstars. Our club and league guide has a longer list.

Keep a short list of cheat code players. Ours includes guys like Anelka, Morata, Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan, and Pjanić: careers that zigzag across leagues and clubs. When a square looks impossible, ask if one of your journeymen passed through here. Surprisingly often, yes.

FAQ

Do I need to know every league to play? No. Most grids draw from the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1. You’ll solve plenty of squares from the leagues you already follow and pick up the rest as you go.

What happens if I get a square wrong? You lose a life. Run out of lives and the grid ends for that attempt, but you can start over or spend coins to undo your last move.

Is there a time limit? No. Take as long as you need. The only pressure is the daily reset, since a new grid replaces today’s at midnight UTC.

One grid a day

Open today’s grid, fill nine squares, come back tomorrow. If you want the trick for scoring low on purpose, read the rarity score guide. If club and league squares are giving you trouble, that guide is built for exactly that. Otherwise, go play. The rules take thirty seconds; the obsession takes longer.
