Captions that work

A bare image gets likes. A line of context gets replies. What works:

Name your rarest square. “Had to go back to the 2012 to 2013 Bundesliga for that centre-back” gives people something to react to. It also teaches lurkers a new name, which is half the fun of these games.

Admit the struggle. “Blanked on the Ligue 1 square for ten minutes, then remembered Kurzawa exists” is more relatable, and more likely to pull in other players, than a flawless victory lap.

Ask a question. “Anyone beat 4% on the Juve square?” turns a broadcast into a thread. Group chats especially: drop the image, ask the question, watch the football nerds emerge.

Where to put it

Group chats are the natural home. The image is readable at phone size, spoiler-free for anyone who hasn’t played (it shows answers, so warn fellow solvers first, or wait until evening).

Stories over feed posts. A daily grid is ephemeral; stories match that rhythm. Save feed posts for milestones: the 100-day streak, the absurd all-time rarity score.

Hashtags sparingly. If you post publicly, one tag like #ImmaculateGrid finds the audience. Five tags finds nobody.

One piece of etiquette

Your share image is the answers. Posting it at 8am spoils the puzzle for friends who play at lunch. Either hold it until the evening or add a spoiler warning. Future you, staring at a ruined grid, says thanks.
